FOUR PAWS' European Policy Office is delighted to see that Ms von der Leyen has been supportive of animal welfare topics during the interviews she had with the Members of the European Parliament which preceded the vote. In particular her statement that animal welfare “should be one of the main pillars of the Common Agriculture Policy”.

Ursula von der Leyen will officially start as President of the EU Commission on the 1st of November 2019. We wish her all the best in her new functions as European leader.
