European animal production is a reflection of the fact that farm animals have become more and more of a commodity. Embedded in high-tech and specialized production systems, they are hardly perceived as living, social creatures capable of suffering. Following an agenda of efficiency and high performance, the cruelty and unsustainability of intensive farming continues to be largely ignored. We are working to change this.
